NISOD, Establishing Thought Leadership with Paper.li

Jan 29, 2018

The situation

Our customer, The National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development (NISOD), in Austin TX,  is a membership association that provides budget-friendly, high-quality, and faculty-focused programs and resources for community and technical colleges that want to make the most of their professional development dollars. NISOD is constantly seeking to increase awareness of their organization and boost their exposure.

“Our intent is to gather and share a sufficient level of relevant information to our audience that they come to know NISOD as a great source of information, and subsequently, for those not already familiar with us, become interested in learning more about and engaging in our other products and services.”

Edward Leach, Executive Director

They needed a tool that could help them curate content in an attractive, professional format and share that content to drive awareness of their organization.

How Paper.li helped

Paper.li, in its Pro version, is the content marketing tool NISOD needed to drive awareness of their organization.

Paper.li allows NISOD to easily collect content by automatically pulling in articles from the primary source they’ve chosen. NISOD then supplements the content on their paper by injecting articles ad-hoc as they navigate the web. The result is an attractive digest of relevant news, presented online and updated weekly (http://digest.nisod.org). NISOD has also succeeded at building a large subscriber base, by embedding a Paper.li subscription widget on the home page of their main website. Using Paper.li’s automated newsletter service, NISOD easily keeps in contact with their base by sending the collected content to their subscribers weekly. Lastly, NISOD uses Paper.li to send out automated social media posts, further promoting their organization on social media and building awareness.

The result

By using these automated assets and by sharing their collected and recommended content on Twitter, Facebook, Linkedin and via newsletters, NISOD is able to easily reach and attract like minded audiences and new potential members.

“Our favorite feature is the “paper.li pro bookmarket” that allows us to add content to our Paper.li when we visit a web page we want to include in the next edition. It’s a very time-saving feature.”

Edward Leach, Executive Director
